Billiot Family | Kapowsin Family Photographer
Meet the Billiot Family. My second oldest daughter is best friends with their youngest daughter, and naturally our families have become close friends. I was honored when they asked to get updated family photos. We brainstormed several locations but landed on an amazing spot. I knew about this location several years ago, but I had never visited the spot until just recently. I drove there to check everything out as far as lighting and the surrounding area. I instantly fell in love! In fact, I shared the location with another senior session I had coming up, and they wanted to switch to the “fireplace.” I also had to get my annual Christmas photo there as well. I absolutely love the beauty of a historic fireplace out in the middle of the woods. I was researching the history and found that the fireplace could possibly be a Civilian Conservation Corp. camp from the 30s during the Great Depression. The camps were offered to young unmarried men to receive food, shelter, training, and payment. The majority of the money went back to their families in exchange for work in construction, conservation, and forestry. I find all of that very fascinating. I’m not sure what happened to the house itself, but I love how the fireplace withstood whatever happened and tells a story. If only the fireplace could talk. I also found a small glass bottle that had a message in it. When we opened the message, there were signatures from people who visited the site. How cool is that? They Billiot family brought a few of their personal Christmas items to make it a more “homey” feeling. Not to worry, though; none of the decorations disrupted the integrity of the site. Everything was carefully handled. We took several photos at the fireplace and then finished their session at a beautiful lake just down the street. Thank you, Billiot family, for such a fun session. You guys are so much fun! I hope we get to do another photo adventure in the future. Blessings!
